Feb. 24 Primary Election: Key facts, media credentials

Clerk David Orr reminds voters in Berwyn, Calumet City, Cicero, Dolton and Elgin to go to the polls on Tuesday for the Consolidated Primary Election.

Here's some information you may need to know:

  • Polls will be open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Registered voters: 173,644
  • Precincts in suburban Cook: 169
  • Polling Places: 97
  • Races: 19
  • Candidates: 44
  • Referenda: 0
  • Ballot styles: 11
  • Election Judges: 395
  • Equipment Managers: 167
  • Attorneys at Clerk's office: 6
  • Attorneys in the field: 4
  • Sheriff Deputies in the field: 4-6
  • Sheriff Deputies at Clerk's office: 3
  • Touch screens deployed: 334
  • Optical scanners deployed: 167
  • Townships voting: 4
  • Municipalities voting: 5
  • Results will be available after polls close at the Clerk's online results page.

Media credentials

News reporters, photographers and TV crews need media credentials when entering a polling place on Tuesday. Credentials are available at the Clerk's office. Credentials can also be emailed in PDF format by request. Please make requests to cgreve@cookcountygov.com.

Verify your registration and know your polling place

At the Voter's Toolkit to verify if they are registered to vote, and view their polling place location and a virtual ballot of candidates running in their precinct.

Provisional voting rights

Under the Help America Vote Act (HAVA), every voter has the right to cast a provisional ballot if their registration is not found or their eligibility to vote is questioned at the polls. Provisional ballots are segregated on Election Day and only counted later if the Clerk's office determines each voter is registered to vote.
